Los Arboles Tulum, our home over the last eleven years, is a shelter and the only self-sustaining community in Yucatán dedicated to preserving its jungle environment. Our neighbors include spider monkeys, vibrant birds and emerald green lizards, with whom we actively work to maintain the beauty and integrity of this jungle community. Although just minutes from Tulum, our home offers total peace and tranquility. We can enjoy what the city offers and then retreat to our jungle paradise. Los Árboles Tulum is much more than just a group of houses in the jungle; it is a genuine community where neighbors socialize and collaborate through our nonprofit committee, extending our hands and hearts beyond the community to support local initiatives. As president of our nonprofit organization for the last decade, I have overseen our support for a seven-year study on spider monkeys conducted by Universidad Veracruz. Young biologists and scientists from around the world who participate in this study have frequently stayed in our own home. Our other notable project is a after-school program focused on children in the nearby Maya community of Macario Gómez, where students learn English, participate in arts, study science, and develop a sense of respect and responsibility for their surroundings. Los Árboles is not only a community that generates its own electricity in an eco-friendly way, largely with solar panels, but is a unique place where we guarantee that the jungle remains faithful to its natural state while we enjoy the good life with friends and neighbors, whether in our expansive native jungle spaces of more than two hectares per home, inside our residences themselves, or in the generous and spectacular community center with its cenote designed especially for recreation, its multipurpose palapa, its open-air auditorium, and its abundant corners for leisure as well as its parking with space and comfort for everyone. All this in a gated community with controlled access and permanent security on the 109 highway, Tulum/Coba. Although it is hard to say goodbye to this paradise, the moment has come to move on.
