Why Mexico

Why buy property in Mexico?

Mexico offers a compelling mix of lifestyle, proximity and long-term opportunity for buyers looking for a home, retirement base or investment.

01

Beachfront living

From the Caribbean coast in Riviera Maya, Cancún and Tulum to Pacific markets such as Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos, Mexico offers remarkable coastal living and a daily connection to the sea.

02

A retirement lifestyle

A warm climate, welcoming communities and varied settings—from San Miguel de Allende to lakeside Chapala—make it possible to find a lifestyle and budget that fit your next chapter.

03

Investment opportunity

A growing economy and strong tourism markets can create potential for appreciation and rental income. Each opportunity still deserves a careful review of location, title, demand and operating costs.

04

Cultural richness

Mexico’s architecture, food, music, traditions and regional identity make ownership about more than a financial decision: it is a way to participate in a place with a deeply lived culture.

05

Accessibility from the U.S.

Frequent flights from major U.S. and Canadian cities, plus practical road access in many regions, make it easier to visit, manage a second home and stay connected.

06

Cost of living

In many markets, day-to-day living, services and healthcare can compare favorably with costs in the U.S. and Canada, while still offering choices from city living to beach communities.

A rewarding purchase starts with understanding the local market, legal process and true cost of ownership. We help you evaluate each of those before you commit.

Questions

The questions buyers ask us first

If yours is not here, an advisor will answer it in writing and cite the legal basis.

What does buyer representation cost?+

For a completed purchase, buyer representation is generally paid from the seller's side at closing. We explain the arrangement for the specific property before you move forward, so you know what to expect.

Can a U.S. or Canadian citizen buy property in Mexico?+

Yes. Foreign buyers can acquire residential property in Mexico. The right purchase structure depends on the location and the property, so we coordinate the appropriate legal and closing professionals before you make an offer.

When is a fideicomiso needed?+

A bank trust, known as a fideicomiso, is commonly used for residential property within 50 km of Mexico's coastline or 100 km of an international border. It is reviewed as part of the purchase structure for the property you choose.

Can I begin the process from outside Mexico?+

Yes. We can start with a discovery call, a focused shortlist and guided 360-degree tours. When you are ready to travel, we help organize one efficient visit around the homes and professionals that matter most.

How do you help me evaluate a property?+

Before recommending a property, we help coordinate review of title, liens, permits, taxes, HOA or developer information, and relevant due diligence with the appropriate professionals. The scope depends on the property and transaction.

Should I buy with cash or financing?+

Both can be possible depending on your profile and the property. We begin with your budget and timing, then help you evaluate a cash purchase or speak with a lender experienced in cross-border transactions.
